Rain Forest Frogs

 Calling the Thunder Beings

Belize. Vol. 1

Deep in Southern Belize, in the Toledo District, lies an amazing place. To reach it, you need to turn off the jungle dirt road and travel down dark and steamy trails, leading you deeper and deeper into the heart of the Rain Forest. Many miles down these hidden trails, lie several different rivers surrounded by a large swampy area that magically comes alive for only a few days of each year.

This amazing Audio CD will take you deep into one of those secret places.

As the Dry Season turns into the Rainy Season, at these special and secret places, the frogs and toads come out in abundant numbers to call in the Thunder Beings. The amphibians are so loud, they rattle the surrounding area and it becomes almost deafening. You can feel the excitement build for the week prior to the first rains if you know how to listen carefully. And then on one very special night, the frogs and toads call in the First Rains.

In this rare Digital Recording, you’ll get to experience this magical transformation on one of those very special evening's, late at night, deep in the heart of the Rain Forest in Southern Belize.

In this age old ceremony that started long before Time,

when the Frogs call in the Thunder Beings!

Belize Howler Monkeys

Baboons Singing Into The Night

Vol. 1

One can not spend time in the Rain Forest of Southern Belize without hearing the fascinating sounds of the Howler Monkeys (or Baboons as they are called in Belize). If you have never experienced this, at first it can sound very intimidating.

Their sounds carry for miles, and until you get familiar with them, you may think an incredible large animal is making these howls. But as you head deeper into the bush and get to the monkey tree and see this for yourself, only then will you realize that the size of these 15 pound, approx. 2 foot tall Monkeys doesn’t seem to be in proportions with the deep, booming howls they make.

These “Baboons”, which are really Yucatan Black Howlers, Alouatta pigra, are found in  evergreen and semi-deciduous forests, forest remnants along rivers and tall, secondary growth. These are shy and elusive creatures which usually creep away through the tree tops when approached and howl mainly at night..

These deep, lolling, continuous rumbling sounds occasionally are

interspersed with grunts and woofs,
